What is Chiropractic? Can it actually help animals too?
Animal Chiropractic is a fast growing field of animal health care that focuses on the preservation and health of the neuro-musculo-skeletal system. This is because nerves control everything that happens in your animals. Therefore, anything adversely affecting the nervous system will have negative effects throughout the entire body. The brain and spinal cord which are protected by the spine, control the entire nervous system. The spine is a complex and is composed of bones, ligaments, muscles and nerves. If the movement of the vertebra (bones) become dysfunctional, they can interfere with the performance of the nerves that are branching off of the spinal cord and going to the all of the muscles and organs. If this happens your animal can present with number of signs including losing normal mobility which in return results in stiffness, tension, pain and even organ dysfunction. When normal movement is compromised, it will ultimately impact your animal’s quality of life. Animal Chiropractic is not meant to replace traditional veterinary care. It is not an alternative treatment, but rather an integrative method that when used in conjunction with good traditional veterinary care, will provide years of happy and healthy living.
